Dec kit, not only for layouts and cards!

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Hi ladies! I have 1 more wonderful crafty project to share with you in the year of 2009. I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed working with the Dec kit and still have a little more to work with and can’t wait to figure out what’s next to make with it!

I have to say that this kit has been absolutely wonderful to make layouts and cards but gift bags/boxes are a sure win over with me! I have been playing with my new Christmas present (Cricut Expression)  and made this bag with the Plantin cartridge.

Hope you all find some time to rest up after a busy and crazy Christmas season to play and create with some fabulous Color Me Daisy kits!

Season’s Greetings and happy crafting!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

I woke up this morning to a beautiful sight- snow everywhere blanketing the earth. For some of you who live where snow is in great abundance this would be no big deal but I live in west Texas and snow is rare, even on Christmas. You don’t know how excited this has made me feel, how much it feels so much more like Christmas today because of the snow.

I hope you are having a wonderful time with your friends and family this special holiday season.

I have just a quick card to share with you today using one of the Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co. punchouts from our December kit at Color Me Daisy. These tags make cards quick and easy to create. Simply start with your background, add some patterned paper, ribbon and tag and you’re done.

For my challenge this month I would like to do something fun- use Julie’s December layout sketch to make a card! It’s such a great sketch and one that I thought would be perfect for a card.

Here’s Julie’s gorgeous sketch that she created for us:

And, using the December kit, here’s the card that I created using Julie’s sketch.

Isn’t that fun?

I’d love for you to give this a try for yourself. If you get a chance to do this challenge please upload it to the Color Me Daisy gallery for all of us to enjoy.

Happy scrapping!

Quick and Easy Glittered Alphas

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

We are so close to the end of the year and with all the holidays and celebrations, sometimes it is fun to make quick and easy adjustments to the products you already have to give them a little pop. For this tutorial I tried a fast and easy way to alter chipboard letters with a glue stamp pad and glitter.

The supplies you will need are:

Chipboard letters, glitter, glue stamp pad, glitter catch or paper plate and some plastic wrap (from packaging).

rk-cmd-tech-1

First decide what letters you want to alter and place them on the plastic packaging.

rk-cmd-tech-2

Press the glue pad onto the letters.

rk-cmd-tech-3

Sprinkle glitter on the glue stamped letters.

rk-cmd-tech-4

Completely cover the letters with glitter.

rk-cmd-tech-5

Shake off the excess glitter.

rk-cmd-tech-6

Once the glue  dries, remove the glittered letter from the packaging.

rk-cmd-tech-7

and adhere to your project.

rk-cmd-tech-8

Use a small paint brush to remove excess glitter.

rk-cmd-tech-9

And there you have it, a very quick and easy way to glitter/alter your chipboard letters.

rk-thankful-4-youAll the products in this card are from the Color Me Daisy November kit (except the glitter and twine).

Have fun altering your current product for a whole new look!

Photo card Challenge

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I know we’re all busy this month getting ready for the holidays, but don’t forget to take some time for yourself to unwind and relax…. scrapping, of course.  There are lots of great December challenges on the message board.  Here’s mine to you:

Create a card using a photo, but I don’t mean just gluing a photo down to cardstock (unless, of course, that’s all you want to do. :) )- embellish it !   My sample here is a holiday card using a lot of CMD Dec. kit along with stash items.  In the past, I’ve done Thanksgiving cards using a photo of my son at the Pumpkin patch and adding 3D pumpkin embellishments; birthday cards adding hats and blowers…  get creative and have fun!  Your recipient will love it.
