Let’s make some ruffles!
Monday, November 2nd, 2009Hello! I’m so excited share with you a technique that I LOVE, something that is so quick and easy you’ll want to use it over and over again.
One of my favorite scrapping technique is paper ruffles. Many of you have probably seen them before, perhaps tried them on a page or card or maybe you tried it and got frustrated and called it quits. I thought it would be fun to show you how quick and easy they are to make and get you excited about making some of your own. I’ll show you the technique and also share with you a card you can make using the November Color Me Daisy kit.
1. First off, gather your supplies. You will need:
paper (November kit!), trimmer, pen, ink if desired, adhesive

2. Cut Kraft cardstock to 4 1/2 x 12 and fold or if you want to use a border punch as I have, cut to size, punch one edge and then fold in half. Ink edges if desired.
3. Cut Dreamstreet Sam “Change is Good” paper 5 3/8 x 4 1/4, ink edges if desired, add some faux stitching and adhere to cardstock base.
4. Cut paper strips:
Dream Street Sam “Rock On” paper- 1 1/2 x 12 inches
Dream Street Sam “Hoot Hoot” 2×12 inches.

5. Ink edges of paper strips if desired and then crumple the strips, one by one, in your hand. The more you wrinkle and scrunch it the more pliable and easy to work with it will be. Take care to not rip too much, though a few tears here and there adds to the character of the paper. You can ink the wrinkles and tears if you wish- I did!

6. Randomly gather here and there and adhere to card. Remember to only add adhesive to the top edge of strip. Trim off extra and re-ink where you’ve trimmed. Add second strip gathering just as you did the first one and adhere to top of second strip.

7. Add Maya Road rickrack trim and tag and you’re done!

Wasn’t that nice and easy? Remember that with practice these become easier. Now go make some ruffles!! If you do try this please upload your image to our gallery!
Happy scrapping
Becky
