Summertime Fun & July Blog Giveaway

June 29th, 2009

July’s Color Me Daisy kit Summertime Fun is available.  I love this kit, it is one of my favorites we have done.  Featuring Basic Grey Lime Rickey and Fancy Pants Designs Summer Soiree, this kit is packed with tons of fun embellishments to capture your summer memories.  It’s bright, happy, whimsical and tons of fun.

I used this kit to make this for Mr. Daisy for Father’s Day.  I had recently picked up some Fancy Pants Designs big chipboard and thought this kit would work perfectly for what I wanted to do with them. Almost everything is from the July kit except the chipboard and  one other Lime Rickey paper for the pants & shorts.  I had a bit of help from my Cricut and the Zoobaloo cartridge for the grass and the dog shapes.  I was able to cut the dog shapes on chipboard with the deep cut housing blade.

The final result was the look I was going for.  Sort of  the doll shapes made famous by Claudine Helmuth.  Sorry there is a bit of a glare on the picture, but I wanted to show this in the frame.  I found the frame at Michaels, and it is perfect for a 12×12 page with a lot of dimension.  I used a lot of foam dot layers to get all the chipboard and pictures layered the way I wanted.

June Kit Spotlight & a chance to win

June 5th, 2009

Happy Friday!  The Daisy Girls have been creating some beautiful layouts, cards and projects with the June kit.  This kit has lots of specialty papers like foil, glittered, metallic, and more from GCD Studios. The colors in this month’s kit are great for so many of our summer activities. Pool or beach pages, wedding pages, playing outside and more.

Here is a layout from Daisy Girl Aimee Kidd, I love all the fussy cutting of the glittered paper and how she cut the circle die cut paper to frame her page.

June Layout Aimee Kidd

Deanna used the die cut paper as part of her background and fussy cut the flowers out of another paper.

Do you want to play with this kit and more Color Me Daisy goodies, we have a 6 month subscriber offer available now too, get the details here.

Want a chance to win the June kit? We gave GCD Studios a kit to give away on their blog.

I can’t believe we are to the end of our Rak A Day in May!!! I don’t know about you, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this month of fun at CMD!!!

I tried something new this month.  I made a Poppet Doll based on Claudine Hellmuth’s poppets.  I cut the dress out of May’s Color Me Daisy kit.  I just loved May’s kit.  The colors are so my style!!!

This layout was also based on the song Free To Be Me by Francesca Battistelli for the Scrapping the Music Blog.  I love to get out of my box and try new things on occasion, and it makes me wonder when was the last time you stepped out of your box.  What new things have you tried lately?  Leave us a post in this thread and as always, I will draw the last winner in 24 hours.

I hope we see all of you on the CMD boards in the days to come.  We have more fun in store for the future!!!

Have a great Sunday,

Kristii

Day #29 - New kit and extra prizes

May 29th, 2009

And the winner is:

Lindsay Says:

I cannot wait to capture memories of my children on their first swingset in the backyard! I also want to get loads of photos at the beach and on a trip to visit my sister.

Please e-mail your address to info@colormedaisy.com so we can get your prize out to you!

Hello again!  Mrs. Daisy here.  Things have been busy here at Color Me Daisy.  The past couple of days we were busy getting ready to release the June Kit, Fabulous Melody, which went live last night.  I’ve really enjoyed reading all the blog comments this month on our RAK a Day Blog Giveaway and getting to know all of you.  I hope you will continue to hang out with us on our message boards too.

I had some fun last night playing with the June kit.  I have been waiting to rip into this baby for a couple of weeks.  I love the blue, green, yellow and black combo.  This kit is filled with several different kinds of specialty papers from GCD Studios, Chatterbox and Bazzill and plenty of fun embellishments from Chatterbox, Pink Paislee, Tim Holtz and Jenni Bowlin.

I can’t believe this month is coming to an end, and for us here in Arizona it is definitely summertime.  The weather here doesn’t wait for the calendar, we have been in the high 90’s to low 100’s for the past few of weeks.  With two little ones we can’t be outside much once it gets real hot, unless we are in the pool.  Our pool has been a comfortable 83 degrees for the past couple of weeks and the boys are loving it. Our summer will be filled with pool memories. We are doing a “staycation” this year, so the pool is our big resource for entertainment. I am going to need lots of options to capture and scrap all of those summer memories we will be creating.

Here is my first layout with the June Kit, created also for theLayout A Day challenge that I am still going strong in:

Bubbles

From the June Kit “Fabulous Melody”: Bazzill Cardstock, GCD patterned papers, Chatterbox tag, Tim Holtz Grungeboard Butterfly and Bazzill ribbon. From the June Add-On’s: Chatterbox Fabulous Acrylic Stamps, Chatterbox Fabulous Trims included in Main Kit Add On, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Lemon Zest, and American Crafts Giftbox Thickers in Black.

Extra Prizes:

Since our month of fun is closing in on the end and this is my last official post for the RAK of the Day I thought we should give away some extra goodies.  On Monday, June 1st I will be drawing for a few more prizes.  I have a couple of extra RAK’s left over and another Basic Grey Ambrosia Mini Kit. So on June 1st, I will be drawing names from all the comments posted during the month to send out a little more happy mail.  So more chances to win, so don’t forget to visit us the next few days.

Also our last challenge will be posted today for the Be Happy Online Crop.  You have until Sunday night to get your submissions posted to our Gallery for all of the challenges offered this month.  We have some great prizes from Basic Grey and Sassafras Lass and a CMD project kit.

Challenge winners will be randomly drawn next week.  Challenge prizes and the remaining RAK a Day prizes will be sent out within a week or so once we have all the addresses of the winners, so make sure you respond soon if you get an e-mail from us ;).

Thanks for playing along with us this month.  And for today’s comments I want you to tell me what memories you are planning to create this summer and then capture in your scrapbook pages.

Enjoy your summer!

Altered (Day #28)

May 28th, 2009

****Winner is Erica m***** Erica, please email Michelle at info@colormedaisy.com with your contact info!

dsc_1413

Hi there CMD fans! Today I’ve got another altered item to share with ya, this time it’s a notebook I made for my niece. I made it completely from scratch using raw chipboard, pp, notebook paper, and the binding that I took off my Pink Paislee sticker strip. I don’t own a bind-it-all, so after creating the front page, covering the back with pp, and lining up the notebook paper inside, I simply used my Crop-a-dile to punch the holes. I get the same effect as a Bind-it-all. And my 9 yr. old niece really loved that no one else would have a notebook/diary like hers!

So for today’s RAK I’d like to know, “What’s the most favorite thing you’ve altered?” Simple. Easy. And I can’t wait to get new ideas for what I’ll alter next! Hope you have a great day!
